Situated in Vestfirdir, the Westfjord of Iceland, our family-run hotel is 23 km from the bird cliffs of Látrabjarg (the puffins can be found here during summer). Winter is the perfect season to catch some beautiful Northern Lights from the hotel. We offer free Wi-Fi and an on-site restaurant with bar.
Each elegant room at Hotel Latrabjarg has a work desk. Some have a seating area and sea views of the Ölfus Harbour.
A 3-course dinner menu of local produce is available, as well as a daily breakfast buffet and light meals from the bar. Latrabjarg Hotel can help arrange horseback riding and fishing licenses.
A sandy beach and fishing lake are both within a 10-minute walk. Vatnsfjördur Nature Reserve is 75 km away, while the small fishing village of Patreksfjördur is 42 km from the hotel. Raudisandur, a scenic red sand beach, and the Baejarvadall Lagoon are about 30 minutes’ drive away.
Couples particularly like the location — they rated it 9.1 for a two-person trip.

It all depends on what side of Iceland you want to experience. If you wish to visit during the warmest season, then summer (July to August) is your best option. During this time you can also find seasonal birds like the Puffins in the Latrabjarg cliffs. If you want to experience a magical side of the fjords, filled with Northern lights – then winter (September to March) is the best choice. Every season here is full of wonder and each has its own charm that will take your breath away.
This beautiful spectacle is quite unpredictable. We have seen Northern Lights appear above our hotel as early as 8PM, and as late as 3AM. Sometimes it lasts for hours, and other a few minutes. We recommend using an Aurora App and staying awake during your stay to see the lights.
It is definitely worth staying awake!
As of the beginning of 2023, there is no Uber service in Iceland. This being a big island with widely spread cities, it is recommended to rent a car while you visit. If you do not feel like driving, there are other means of transportation available, such as taxis, buses and tours. In Reykjavik you can also find electric scooters from Hopp or Zolo.
Iceland’s legal currency is the Icelandic Krona. Although, most establishments (and even buses) will accept credit card payments. See the exchange rate from USD to ISK here.
Iceland is the perfect country for adventure. If you love nature, peace and sightseeing, this is a perfect fit. Depending on the season you visit, you will get to know a different side of the island (see the best time to visit below). The most popular activities among tourists are:
