The tour departure is tailored to the flight schedule of Air Iceland Connect and therefore is both suitable as part of a day trip from Reykjavik, or as one of your day tours during a longer stay in Isafjordur. Once at Isafjordur there is a FlyBus that takes you to downtown Isafjordur (and back again in the evening) in only 7-8 minutes. No pre-booking is required for the FlyBus.

The tour departs from the Wild Westfjords office in downtown Isafjordur. We start by driving through some epic fjord landscapes, including over the Hrafnseyrarheidi heath which is a very scenic and winding mountain road that offers breathtaking views from both sides over the fjords of Dyrafjordur & Arnarfjordur.

We stop for about an hour at Dynjandi, which means “thunderous” and is one of Iceland’s most impressive & majestic waterfalls, and one of the icons of The Westfjords. It is a part of the larger Fjallfoss waterfall system of 7 sub-waterfalls, each with their own name. The top tier is certainly the most impressive but each one of the other six is unique in its own right! We highly recommend doing the optional easy hike up to the top tier.

On our way back to Isafjordur we stop at the historical site of Hrafnseyri for light refreshments in a traditional turfhouse.
